EA's Dice studios has confirmed that Battlefield 1943 will be available for download exclusively from XBOX Live ($15/1200MS points) on July 8th and exclusively on the Playstation Network, July 9th.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed Battlefield: 1942 is a first-person-shooter (FPS) multiplayer game. Players will be able blow each other to smithereens via areial dog fights, sea faring war ships or on the ground as mobile infantry. The game utilizes the distructible Frostbite engine that leaves battle enviroments utterly destroyed. No walls - no bunkers.. no places for cover. It should make good for exciting and innovative battles (to say the least).

For the first time ever; a world wide community challange will enlist gamers from XBOX Live and the Playstation Network to rack up a whopping 43 million kills between the two of them (exclusive for both communites), but no PS3 vs XBOX battles here (sorry all of you devotees) this will be an accumulation betwee the two; but...yep! For this awsome feat to be accomplished 24 players will be able to get down and dirty WWII style.
"Battlefield 1943 is going to change consumer expectations of what a downloadable game can be. By offering Frostbite's next generation destruction technology with a full Vehicle Warfare FPS multiplayer experience at a mere 560MB, Battlefield 1943 sets a new standard, our goal is to blow people away with a fully accessible, retail-calibre game for veteran Battlefield fans and shooter fans alike to enjoy for only $15."
-Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield 1943.
