Nintendo, Apple and Sony in Court

Shared Memory Graphics LLC out of Newport Beach, Calif., recently had subpoenas served to Sony, Nintendo and Apple for copyright infringement on two of their graphics accelerator patents [currently functioning in the market by all 3]

• Sony Corp.--------------(PS2 &PSP consoles)

• Nintendo Co. Ltd.-------------(Nintendo Wii)

• Apple Inc.---------------(iPod Touch & iPhone)

The two patents (formerly owned by Alliance Semi Conductor Corp) describe procedure in which microprocessors fine-tune graphics by equally proportioning out the flow of data from multiple sources.

All 3 companies declined to comment in an Arkansas District Court last week.
