How do you Play

Most males (as far as I know) prefer to stand while peeing. Most (or all) females prefer to sit while peeing. So what does peeing have to do with video games? Absolutely nothing! I've just been curious as to find out, male or female, whether you prefer to sit or stand while "playing".Photobucket
For me personally, I prefer to stand. It's not a masculinity issue, it's more of a gamestyle adjustment. I find that whenever I'm playing FPS I'm usually on my feet. Call me weird, but I really get into it this way; on the other hand, when I'm playing a 3rd person shooter like 'GOW' or 'Splinter Cell', I tend to sit down, relax and observe unique in-game details while playing - that is until I get really immersed, go online, or come really close to smashing my controller into a million-billion pieces from pure frustration.

Many of us older (arcade style) gamers out there have come accustomed to sitting and gaming, while the younger generation doesn't know any other way. But with the "Big 3" (360, PS3, Wii) utilizing motion capturing, it seems that gameplay-styles are beginning to change once again.

I've put my vote in. So how do you play?

A New Wii Saddle?

A new peripheral for the Wii was discovered in a European patent database. It describes the peripheral as an inflatable saddle designed from foam or some other material and will come equipped with a 1 way air valve of conventional design.

The Wii remote will fit into a slot or pocket situated on the saddle for accelerometer detection. The nun chucks are to be used as reins, and depending on the game; could be used as a raised hand for bronco riding, a lasso and a sword. In the patent there are statements that mention the different types of animals and imaginary creatures the saddle will be used for: Bulls, camels, elephants, burros, dolphins, whales, dragons, griffins, unicorns, and giant eagles.

The patent also suggests the saddle could also double as a seat for various vehicles like a hang glider, numerous types of aircraft, a magical carpet, motorcycle, jet ski, and a form of land/sea exploration vehicle.

Genyo Takeda has been listed as one of the inventors. Imagine the types of games that could be created solely for this saddle if it ever gets developed. Filing a patent is usually the second step after the design has been finalized, and there's no telling if this will be the final design. This could be a long process in the making assuming that it will even get developed. Stay tuned..
