How do you Play

Most males (as far as I know) prefer to stand while peeing. Most (or all) females prefer to sit while peeing. So what does peeing have to do with video games? Absolutely nothing! I've just been curious as to find out, male or female, whether you prefer to sit or stand while "playing".Photobucket
For me personally, I prefer to stand. It's not a masculinity issue, it's more of a gamestyle adjustment. I find that whenever I'm playing FPS I'm usually on my feet. Call me weird, but I really get into it this way; on the other hand, when I'm playing a 3rd person shooter like 'GOW' or 'Splinter Cell', I tend to sit down, relax and observe unique in-game details while playing - that is until I get really immersed, go online, or come really close to smashing my controller into a million-billion pieces from pure frustration.

Many of us older (arcade style) gamers out there have come accustomed to sitting and gaming, while the younger generation doesn't know any other way. But with the "Big 3" (360, PS3, Wii) utilizing motion capturing, it seems that gameplay-styles are beginning to change once again.

I've put my vote in. So how do you play?

SPLINTER CELL:CONVICTION / fall'09

It's been over three long years since Splinter Cell "Double Agent" was released, and over three long years without a true stealth [action] game for PC and Xbox 360. After so much time passing with the absence of [true-to-life] stealth gaming, just catching a glimpse of the new Splinter Cell should alleviate some of the numbness.

The latest installment in what has become a timeless series is headed by Ubisoft Montreal (the same team behind Splinter Cell "Chaos Theory" (2005). The creative director of Splinter Cell "Conviction", Maxime Beland, and his team have completely changed the gameplay concept of all previous Splinter Cells. Instead of relying entirely on stealth, the mood of the game is structured more like the [stealth to action] sequencing in movies; Think Bourne and Bond on this one.
And with a new storyline and setting, Ubisoft Montreal has been able to push the boundaries of what's to be expected during combat in extremely unique situations.

In SP Conviction Sam is no longer working for Echelon, but for himself, looking for his daughter's killer. This means no technical support, and no special weapons and devices. The lack of government support leaves Sam to utilize his environment and use improvised gadgetry. No support also means no rules; we'll be able to see Sam do his worst during a gun battle or up close and personal with no restraint. With that said, check out this year's E3 demo - see for yourselves!
